Expedition Yanamono
Transportation during the trip is on the B/F Jacamar. This
boat will take us to our base camp at Amazon Kingfisher Lodge
and later take us on our excursions. It offers the opportunity
for the adventurous traveler to see and experience the rainforest
at close range. We limit the number of passengers to ten so that
everyone will be able to observe and marvel at the beauty of the
Amazon jungle. The lodge is located approximately 50 miles down
the Amazon River from the city of Iquitos near the small village
of Yanamono. This is where Orlando was born and raised, and we
have purchased over 50 acres of rainforest land to protect it
from logging and other development. Amazon Kingfisher Lodge consists
of bungalows which are constructed from native materials with
thatched roofs and are completely screened in. Each room has its
own toilet and shower facility. Lighting is by kerosene lamps
as there is no electricity at the camp. The lodge offers a unique
place to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the rainforest.
The trip is for those who enjoy adventure, hiking, and exploring
nature first-hand.
